Pennsylvania has a new rule effective 1/1/2019 – does Wine Direct support age gates on checkout?

• Establish an “age gate” on their website that requires everyone visiting the site to affirm that they are 21 years of age or older. The PLCB recommends this gate is in place when a visitor seeks to initially access the site, but will permit the age gate to be in place at checkout.

Thanks for your inquiry. All WineDirect clients are indeed compliant with the PA age gate rule, as birthdate is required upon checkout.

‘placing an order’ be 21…which is it?

The PLCB recommends this gate is in place for all visitors, but will permit the age gate to be in place at checkout. In other words, PLCB wants “everyone visiting the site”, but will permit “everyone placing an order”
