The contact record is my own. I do not want to be unsubscribed as my ‘email status’. I found this:
Can I change an email status from the Admin Panel?
No. Email Statuses are assinged automatically based on system actions
(like placing an order) or a customer action (opting into the mailing
list). An admin users cannot change a contact’s email status from their
contact record in the admin panel.
So, how do I make myself subscribed again without deleting the contact record, which is not an option.

Go to a form on your web site that has the Opt In checkbox. Enter your email address, check the box, and submit. You’ll get the confirm email - click the link - and you will be back in.
@Josh or someone - this would be good for the email status FAQ.
PS - I think it would be nice to be able to edit it in the admin panel. Some of the top email programs out there allow it, they just ask you to check a box verifying that you have permission from the customer to do so.
Alternatively, you can change your email address temporarily and then change it back to the correct email and the email status will be Blank. Once you clean it and it is marked Cleaned, you can email to them again as normal.
