Hi,
This starts as a question and becomes a feature request if the answer is no.
Event tickets and anything else that doesn’t physically ship. I’m wondering if the streamlined checkout will still ask me what state my event ticket should ship to, ask for the shipping address, and ask me if I’d like to be sent a text message when my ticket ships, before giving me the ticket as a pdf?
In the current checkout I modified the Resource Bundle* to add BIG TEXT telling people to choose Pickup as their shipping option. This is actually less confusing then the alternatives - and helps prevent stupid quarantines and error messages - but I still get emails asking when they should come and get their tickets… And still only half of my purchasers choose Pickup.
Vin65 will tell you that people might buy something other than tickets in their order so all that shipping stuff needs to be there, but I can’t say I have ever seen anyone do that since Event Tickets first became available…
Out of the gate, this process is the same as ordering wine.
The checkout process in general is streamlined, so ordering will be easier.
Over time, we’ll continue looking at how people are using the checkout, and make adjustments.
I’ll chip in a vote. Our customers are wildly confused by the Ship/Pickup option for Event tickets no matter how much work we do to explain it to them. You have Shipping and Pickup Locations, just make another one called Email.
Criteria? contains something that doesn’t ship. (by product type would be fantastic!).
We hope you’ll have a fantastic time. We don’t physically ship tickets, you’ll get a pdf ticket upon completion of your order, both onscreen and by email. Thanks again!
Even better is if there is a ticket, force the only option to be email delivery (ditto gift cards).
Option 1: “You have an event ticket in your cart/basket/sack. We can’t ship wine via email - even though that would be WICKED cool - so please remove the wine and complete checkout on your event ticket. Then come back and complete your wine purchase.”
Option 2 for extra cred: “You have an event ticket in your cart/basket/sack. We can’t ship wine via email - even though that would be WICKED cool - so we will set aside the wine so you can complete checkout on your event ticket. The wine(s) you have selected will be in your cart/basket/sack and then you can complete your wine purchase.”
A variant of #2 would be to implement Save For Later like they do on Amazon.
