Email Designer / Builder recommendations?

Hey there, we’ve been using a 3rd party marketing platform (campaign monitor) for emailing. We’ve created really slick marketing and wine club emails with their drag-and-drop designers, but we’re not able to export the source code to plug into Vin65. I’ve tried a number of platforms for the same purpose and have wasted enough time that it would be cheaper for me to just hire a vin65-familiar company to build out a few email templates for me. So here’s the question:

Who have you used? Do you have any recommendations? Any misgivings or “wishlist” issues that you were left with? ie. “Well we’re happy enough with what we got…it’s not my favorite, I wish xyz, but it does the trick and it’s not a big enough deal to justify throwing more money at it”

Thanks,
AD

You might be able to get the HTML, with a little more editing required, if Campaign Monitor has a “View email in browser” link on it. e.g. send yourself the email, view it in your browser, ‘view source’ on the page, and then edit it. It will likely contain some additional stuff that you’d have to strip out above or below the email. You’d still have to adjust links for unsubscribing, move images to a new server, etc. etc. to fit the new platform.

To expand on what @tsartoris said…there are a couple easy ways to get the HTML out of Campaign Monitor.

  1. Duplicate one of your previously sent campaigns, then in the Campaign Snapshot section, click “Edit HTML” and voilà.

  2. You can also go to a previously sent campaign and click “Social Sharing & Forwards,” which will provide you a hosted URL. Go to that, use Chrome to view source and you’re set.

Personalized tags are not the same in Vin65, so you’re going to need to update those.

Hiring a designer isn’t a bad idea. I can see a Mailchimp or Campaign Monitor template a mile away and it looks amateurish in my humble opinion. Just keep in mind that if you don’t have the expertise or resources to alter your custom templates in-house, you’ll be beholden to a de$igner.

I don’t know…basic template designs sure. But this is what I built a while ago in campaign monitor, and for the purpose it suits, I’m pretty happy. Granted the color is off-white in the browser version…

In either case, can’t believe I didn’t think of the “view on web” version forever ago! Thanks for the smack on the forehead

Those look great! You should be able to port them fairly easily. Just be careful editing certain elements that use media queries once you get them in Vin65.

Oh, and if you want to hide your preheader text, toss this in after the opening body tag.

A first time ever, limited-space event.

Works for most clients.

Hot tip! Thanks!

BTW, I believe they removed not only this feature but also their previous template “export” feature. I don’t see “edit HTML” anywhere - not in campaign snapshot, template creation, or template editing.

Interesting. All of our code is custom and we have an agency account with CM, so it might be different. Regardless, you should be able to get it from the hosted version, but you might need to clean up DOCTYPE and some meta stuff.

We hired Peter Andres from WineWorks to do templates for us. He whipped out several variations of a template that we use for our emails based on what we wanted. I also now have been able to build new ones based on what he did. Time versus $$. This was $$ well spent.
