Remote Widgets

I am only using the vin65 website template for the ecommerce and wine club pages. The rest of my website is hosted on another platform. Does anyone know if I need to build a “wines” page on the vin65 site and then link that to my main website or can I just use the remote widgets in my home site on the existing “wines” page? Not sure if that all makes sense or not…

You can do it either way. Maybe there’s something new but last I checked the checkout still has to happen on the vin65 site, and therefore you’re probably already designing it, and therefore it’s probably a good idea to host the wines page on vin65 also unless you have a compelling reason not to.

Hey @katelandcarr,

@tsartoris is correct. The checkout pages and the member pages will need to live on Vin65, but you do have the option of hosting the Wines page either on Vin65 or elsewhere.

If you do choose to host the Wines page on your other site, there is a little more upkeep and work involved as you’ll need to add some code for each of your products as opposed to them being managed in Vin65. More information on this specific remote widget is on our documentation site here.

We do recommend using the following remote tools regardless of where the Wines page is hosted. These really helps streamline the experience across both sites so that the user can log in and access their cart at any point on either website.
