Show a sold out ticket with wait list message?

We sold some event tickets and we’re sold out. But we’d like to keep the item on our website with a message that it’s sold out and how to get on a wait list. Right now if you add the tickets it says they are out of stock but you can still add them and have to pay for them. Is there a way to do this?

First, in the ticket product use Manage Properties, Advanced, and Sale to Public end date. Set the date to yesterday and put in your sold out message.

Then what you could do is add a form to the ticket page so that people can get on the waiting list. Or something.
