HERE IS THE SCENARIO: we want to display SOLD OUT wines on the website but also be able to sell the same “sold out” wines only through POS in tasting room. We have set security message to on with “sold out” displaying BUT the product is now grayed out in POS view. We also turned off “inventory synch” and set WD inventory to zero but the product is still grayed out in POS view.
I understand that we can change website settings at product level to “allow admin override product security” to sell through. Is this the BEST WAY to do it? Thanks!
Seems a lot of wineries want this functionality. It would probably be easy just to have a checkbox in the product setup for “Sold Out on Website.” But instead, we get to deal with hacks.
This doesn’t really seem like a hack to me, not like some of other things we have to do. “Sale to public end date” actually sounds like the desired function, and gives you more than a checkbox would - like a message to display and when to display it. I also like the flexibility of choosing the message, for example sometimes “out of stock” (which implies that it will be back) is needed instead of “sold out”.
ps: “Back Order and Display Message” is not really part of this solution because I don’t usually let it get to that point…
