Turning a 1st time visitor order into a club order

Customer buys wine, their name is in the order after swiping their credit card- email, name, sales are attached to this order.
Customer then decides to join the wine club. When searching for this customer (because their name is attached a current order) they are nowhere to be found. How can we take this contact and order and make them a wine club member without having to just create a new contact?

Processing a POS order and paying with a credit card makes the order searchable by name, but I think that what you are missing is that it doesn’t automatically create an actual contact for all POS orders. You’ll still have to create a new contact, and you can pretty easily tie the previous order to that contact.

We always require our team to create a new contact for the orders. We email the receipt. If we are real busy, they will just dummy the other fields like address, etc.

How do you tie the customer to a order if the order was already placed?
