Is it possible to refund an order or partial refund to a different credit card? Perhaps the client has changed their credit card information, or the number is different. Or does the order always have to go back to the credit card originally used?
There may be ways to do this through your gateway, but I would recommend against it. Often, this is a scam where somebody uses a stolen or company credit card and will ask to have it refunded to their card as a way of transferring money through your winery, which will be held liable for the charges.
When credit cards are replaced, they can no longer be charged but remain open for refunds. If a card account has been completely closed, they will mail a check to the former account holder.
