This issue seems to come and go. May be linked to updates by Apple or Vin65 but we are not back to having the screen blank out when entering credit cards. I have reported it to Support. The system is actually capturing what you are typing but you cannot see it until you exit the screen. The main problem screen always seems to be the credit card one which must use different security or something.
Hey, @MarkCrapeau. I’m very interested in this phenomena and I have a slew of questions for you:
-
How many different devices do you have and what are they? (Air 2, Mini 4, etc)
-
On which devices does it occur and not occur?
-
Did you updated to iOS 9.3.5 today (or recently)?
-
Would you be able to verify that the device experiencing the problem is running Vin65 app version 4.0.3? (Easiest way to check is make sure there’s no update for the app in the app store)
-
Would you be able to fill out this network survey? Network Survey (responses are emailed directly to me)
Zach,
We only have IPAD 3’s and they are all up to date on IOS and Vin65 App. They all have a blue tooth keyboard case attached to them. We only use the lightning readers. If you check my history of issues, you will see that this has been going on for a couple of years. It goes away for a while and then seems to return. I suspect it is something that is being impacted by the IOS updates but am not certain. The problem can be replicated on all devices so it is not unique to any one IPAD. We have dedicated T1’s and our internet speed is 9 up and 9 down.
Hey Mark,
iPad Mini 3? Up to date as in 9.3.5 and 4.0.2? This may have been going on for a couple of years but I’ll be darned if it’ll continue to go on for a couple more years. Let’s get specific here. Are you able to fill out my google form so I can get some detailed stats about your local network?
Thanks for playing ball!
We have experienced this issue frequently on our iPad Air 1’s. Frequent but still intermittent, I haven’t been able to figure out what circumstances will cause it and can’t reliably reproduce it, but it’s still happening maybe 40% of the time any of our staff tries to use that credit card screen.
Dan,
I assume there is something related to how the credit card screen has been programmed. Perhaps there is extra security or something. This also seems to happen after Apple does one of their updates but could also be when Vin65 does an update. We just seem to notice it more then. We thought it was related to internet speed or possibly the IPADs we were using but replacing the IPADS and having very fast connections does not seem to cure the issue.
