I had a weird situation today. Two contacts (call them A and B) with the same name, different email addresses, and the same username.
The username happened to be the email address of B, so that when B tried to reset password, the received password failed to log in.
Anyone else seen such a thing? This isn’t supposed to happen…
My guess is this happened in importing? I tried every way to replicate this I could think of, the system doesn’t let duplicate usernames be entered in the admin panel or in the website, or even form signups.
Did you ever figure this out?
I have a guess, that the reset password or create account process caused it, since it is based on email and not username. My one customer import happened over 10 years ago, not likely the cause.
Late comment, but we had the same thing happen to us. I had to switch the information myself and honestly, I am not sure why it happened. It could have happened during our migration last year and this was the first attempt by either member to log onto their account.
