Action email/contact status

Anyone have a solution to the below?

I’m trying to setup a Join our Wine Club action email to go out to repeat customers. We have a lot of buyers who buy but are not club members, problem is the action email still pulls in repeat club member buyers? from what i can tell these are club members who are on hold (i have quite a few really good customers who like to contact me for orders rather than have them sent automatically so they get put on hold indefinitely but retain club privileges).

Anyone encounter this before? Issue seems to be with contact status, only has them as club member when not on hold.

Your repeat, non wine club members should have a contact type = newsletter, or something else. I set the email up as general or consumer, not wine club. Then I select those options and it won’t go to existing wine club members.
