How many are using EMV readers, and how long before use will be required?
We used them, they are required in the US as long as you don’t want to accept any liability, but if you don’t think you get fraudulent cards in the tasting room, then you are not required to have them.
Did that help?
EMV adoption in the US has been a joke.
Plenty of businesses have gotten the new terminals, but still only use magnetic swiping. Like @jchristi said, it’s a matter of fraud liability that shifted from the banks to the businesses who still use this method and is not yet a law.
I think the silver lining is most of the new terminals have NFC built in, which enables things like Apple Pay and Google whatever. There should be elegant, cordless terminals hitting the market soon and then we can all ball out. I’d wait for that.
Sounds like good advice, thanks.
