Shipment Tracking - Expected Delivery Date --BAD Data

I just wanted to find out if anyone else is having trouble with the two system emails Vin65 generates with the expected delivery date being completely wrong. We’ve had multiple orders to the East Coast showing an expected delivery date of just 2-3 days when it takes at least 5 business days to get to the East Coast.

As you can imagine, our customers are quite confused when the order doesn’t show up and we tell them it’s going to be another 2-3 days. Has anyone else had an issue with this?

Cheers!

I haven’t seen that, but I have seen where the email says to expect Wed. but it gets delivered on Tues. I added weasel words to the email to make it clear they should look at tracking to get the latest estimate.

Us as well! And the graphic we have at the top of our emails is very confusing with the different stages of the order. We currently ship cold chain and I’m wondering if there is a way to delay a system email to go out 2-3 days after the tracking number is generated since it’s on a truck and not in the system yet.?

We use refrigerated (cold train) via Pac n Ship Direct. It works well, but the Vin65 email with the white lines between the four stages of shipemnt/delivery that then turn green is super confusing for our members and guests. I field calls all day from people who are confused by the lines between the various steps of shipment.

I think these are all generated by the carrier delivery type.

What is the exact method your fulfillment house uses? Sometimes the refrigerated trucks use a method called Zone Skipping. This is where the packages are put on refrigerated trucks or trains and brought to hubs across the country. From there, they are handed over to UPS or FedEx and deliver the last leg via ground options.

The problem here is that they will have, say, a UPS Ground label on them. So not only does Vin65 think it’s a standard ground delivery from your primary warehouse, it also won’t trigger any email until the carrier scans in the package, which happens at the hub.

FedEx Cold-Chain is a little different, but you can see how these weird delivery methods create issues for an automated system like Vin65.

I’ve found that, when confronted by Vin65-induced side effects, explaining them briefly with a touch of self-deprecating humo(u)r is usually effective.

The “timeline” on the Vin65 shipping email is what really confuses folks. It’s a terrible design and folks don’t know that it will turn “green” as it moves through the system. We are unfortunately completely fed up with these emails and want to turn them off. Who knows how to do that?

The last I checked they could not be turned off. I add letters to the end of the tracking numbers when they are imported so that the email notifications cannot be triggered.

Again, many of these issues can be mitigated by use of your witty banter and humo(u)rous denigration of the offending item.

Does anyone know where I can look and see what events trigger specific emails to go out? We have two emails going out that say a shipment has been created and it’s confusing customers.

Yup. Both at the same time. I complained a while ago. They also send two texts, which at messaging rates could be a more hostile act:
