Occasionally one must search Orders based on the name. These searches sure do time out a lot.
I will add on a mostly related note that on a not-quite-daily-but-nearly-daily basis while searching for a Contact, that the search just stalls (times out if I’m patient) and I have to use the exact same parameters in the advanced search to achieve any result.
I mean right, first world problems. But it’s hard to preach the virtues of a robust system like this that sometimes requires a greater effort from our staff while having to train them on “workarounds” which result in the system… working at the most basic level.
This bug in Contact search is well known, just not well publicized. Several of us at the time that it surfaced months ago suggested simply doing away with single search box and just exposing the Advanced panel as the search interface. Neither a fix to the bug nor the implementation of this suggestion have been forthcoming.
This suggestion would certainly would help with training staff that may not be as technical as you might like.
Having to explain “use this unless it doesn’t work, so instead use that” is no way to go through life.

Today, it’s list builder timeouts. Got it on the third try, it got stuck at Product options.
