Tipping in the Tasting Room - on receipts?

Hi All,
How are you handling tipping in the tasting room? The Tip Screen that pops up before the signature panel causes an awkward pause when you turn the tablet screen to the guest…awkward moments that you don’t get from a tip jar. What I’m hoping for is a way to print a restaurant style receipt, have a tip line there, then process the tip in the system after the fact. Is there a way to do this?

We explain that tips are entirely optional, “Tap here if you want to skip that, then there will be a screen for you to sign.” Then we step away.

We make sure they know where the no tip button is because the type size is so small it is hard for some folks to read. Canadians must have 20/20 vision or something.

Depending on the purchase it also makes sense just to no-tip for them and go straight to the signature.

This really isn’t much different from the way Square and other restaurant iPad POS do it. It’s all becoming more common and familiar.

I just recently went through this with Vin65 support, there is no way to process a tip from a printed receipt. If you disable tipping and someone asks for a printed receipt the tip line will still be there (as it can’t be removed) and there is no way to process that tip if they leave one.

With that being said, I would recommend leaving tipping on in the POS to avoid the problems that come with disabling it.

Hmmmm. It seems odd that you can’t process a tip from a printed receipt, yet the tip line prints on the receipt…
